This song is what I refer to as an Autobiography in progress. Turning it over, in my mind, does not mean sitting back and doing nothing --relying solely on God, or on the universe to unfold as it should -- but instead it means consciously choosing and acting in a way that betters one's self, while understanding that one is not the be all and end all in this world, or this universe.
One can feel pity for one's self to the heart's content, but this is the self-destructive nature I hope to escape. I cannot take credit for the phrase, but I can take credit for my action towards fulfilling the spirit of those words.
I hope others can get as much out of it.
lyrics
Well friend you've got troubles on your mind
that's okay, you know that I've had mine.
but whether you've succumbed to bad fortune
or done some things that cannot be undone
Turn it over
you've got to turn it over
you don't need to find no four leaf clover
you'll find your luck will change
when you finally change your ways
put your faith in God
and turn it over
And make things right now
You gotta make it right now
soon you'll learn that you don't have to fight now
Yes you'll see better days
when you finally change your ways
just put your faith in God and Turn it over
Well this advice I humbly offer you
'Cause you seem down and friend I've been there, too
Yes, there've been times where I've strayed from the fold
but I remember wise words I was told
I turned it over
I turned it over
I didn't need to find no four leaf clover
I found my luck had changed when i finally changed my ways
Well I put my faith in God and turned it over
I made things right now
I had to make it right now
soon i learned I didn't have to fight now
Well I've seen better days when I finally changed my ways
I put my faith in God and turned it over
Turn it over
you got to turn it over
you don't need to find no four leaf clover
well you'll find your luck will change
when you finally change your ways
just put your faith in God
and turn it over
And make things right now
You gotta make it right now
soon you'll learn that you don't have to fight now
Yes you'll see better days
when you finally change your ways
just put your faith in God and Turn it over
Put your faith in God and turn it over
